The Arboriginal name for Shark Bay is "Gathaaguda" meaning "two bays". The Arboriginal people are descendants of the Malgana tribe and are the traditional owners of the Shark Bay area. They speak one of the twelve languages of the area between Exmouth in the north, to Dongara in the south and Sandstone in the east.
This Camping is right at Hamelin Pool, around 35 kms from our previous "home". The strong wind makes the heat bearable, but an airconditioned room is still a welcome luxury.
We have time for sightseeing - by car and with airco.
The sand at Shell Beach (l'heridon Bight), is in fact mini cockles, that have been washed ashore for thousand of years forming an almost concrete ground with lose shells -
From the room we access the beach - for a before dinner drink sunset drink ....
